Can I use my current business phone number with Smith.ai?

Yes. But really, you get the answer that defines the cynic or the optimist: "it depends."

Your current business phone is a cloud phone number (e.g., Google Voice, RingCentral, Grasshopper, 8x8)

Absolutely. Forward all calls to Smith.ai depending on your needs:

Your current business phone number is a cell phone

If your current business phone number is a cell phone, your choices are limited. You must forward calls to Smith.ai using Conditional Call Forwarding. We will not be able to transfer calls to you, as it would create an infinite loop. This setup is ideal when you want receptionists to answer calls you don't answer, book appointments or qualify leads, but nothing more. We often find customers who start with this setup eventually port their number to Smith.ai, then get a new number for their cell phone.

Your current business phone number is a landline

If your current business phone number is a landline, then yes. You simply forward all calls to Smith.ai from your landline. We'll answer calls during business hours, and transfer to any other numbers, including your mobile phone, if your instructions specify this. The caveat is that we can't route calls back to that landline number, or it will create a loop.
