How to Automatically Add Facebook Ad Leads to Outreach Campaigns

This article will cover how to connect leads from your Facebook Lead Ads to Smith.ai's outreach campaign to automatically initiate an outbound call from a Smith.ai agent. Interested in creating a workflow to automatically engage with your Facebook ad leads? Just follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for a Zapier Account
  2. Connect your apps to Zapier
  3. Create a Zap to connect Facebook Lead Ads with Smith.ai 
  4. Set up the Zap trigger
  5. Set up the Zap action

1. Sign up for a Zapier account

You can sign up for a Zapier Account here. If you already have one, move on to the next step. 

*Note: You can create a single-step Zap between some apps and Smith.ai on a free account. However, Facebook Lead Ads is a premium app and requires a paid Zapier account. 

2. Connect your apps to Zapier

Once you’ve set up your Zapier account, you’ll want to connect it to your Facebook Leads Ads account and Smith.ai account.

  1. Navigate to your Zapier Dashboard.
    *Note: If you’re not logged in, you will be prompted to do so. 
  2. In the Zapier Dashboard, click on My Apps.
  3. Click Add Connection.
  4. Search for Facebook Lead Ads.
  5. Add an additional connection for Smith.ai using the same steps above.

*Note: You may have multiple API Keys for Smith.ai and will need to use different ones for Virtual Receptionist calls, Outreach Campaign calls, and Chat integration.

3. Create a Zap to connect Facebook with Smith.ai

To connect Facebook Lead Ads and Smith.ai’s Outreach Campaigns, use this template to get started:

4. Set up the Zap trigger 

  1. Choose your Facebook Lead Ads account and click continue. 
  2. Set up the Zap trigger by selecting the page and form. Since this is the simple solution, leave it as “Default (Any Form)” and click Continue.
  3. Test your trigger. It should display recent leads. 
    Important: Remember, the form MUST have the following fields: first name, last name, and phone number

5. Set up the Zap action

  1. The template has already chosen Smith.ai and the Call Someone (Outreach Campaign Only) action event, so verify and click Continue. 
  2. Choose the Smith.ai account that you connected earlier and press Continue.
  3. Map the Smith.ai fields to the fields on your Facebook Lead Ad form.

  4. Name your Zap
  5. Turn on your Zap! 

Now, when new leads fill out a Facebook Lead Ad form, they will automatically be called by Smith.ai based on your outreach campaign details.

Advanced: You can create multiple Zaps connecting different Facebook forms to different outreach campaigns!

How to Connect to Smith.ai Virtual Receptionists

If you subscribe to Smith.ai Virtual Receptionists, you can set up a Zap in Zapier to trigger a call for this separate service. In the "Choose app and events" step, instead of selecting "Call Someone (Outreach Campaign Only)," you'll select "Call Someone (Virtual Receptionist)." Follow the same steps as above. When mapping your fields, include directions for what the Smith.ai virtual receptionist should do on the call — including how to handle the call, language, and callback time. If you'd like, you can set these to default instructions. Follow the remaining steps to save the Zap and turn it on.
